Also camp grounds are available at Baylys Beach, Glinks Gully, Kellys Bay, Pouto, Tinopai, Pahi, Paparoa and Matakohe. Dargaville Museum also allows fully self contained motor homes (no power sites)
***************************************************************************************************** With its clear sparking lakes, the domain is a shining jewel on Northland's west coast. The freshwater dune lakes of Kai Iwi, Taharoa and Waikare are renowned for their beauty and clear waters The 538 hectare recreation reserve offers camping, a wide range of recreational opportunities and supports a rich variety of native bird, animal and plant life. Recreational opportunities include picnicking, swimming, boating, kayaking, water and jet skiing, sail boarding, diving, trout fishing and yachting. There is also an extensive walking track around Lake Taharoa and a 2.5 km walk from the domain to the Ripiro ocean beach. Camping is available at two sheltered camping grounds (Promenade Point and Pine Beach). Cold water showers and neither campground offers powered sites. The Kai Iwi Lakes are 35 kilometres north of Dargaville on a sealed road. Booking essential over the Christmas/New Year period.
